The last couple of days…

So workouts this week have been just plain, on Monday I did some time on my Elliptical Trainer due to my knee and ankle giving me grief (old injuries suck) and then yesterday we took a trip to a local park so that my wife could get in a run, and I brought our puppy along and did a bit more than a 2 mile walk.

Most likely today will be another Elliptical day for me because the ankle is still being problematic. I had a severe sprain several years ago and it hasn’t been the same since. It however acts up far less often than my knees do so that is a good thing. My preference is to take it easier on it than take the chance of causing a more severe injury.

So on Tuesday when we came back to work I started this Carnivore diet, this is now day 2 which I have eaten nothing but meat, and honestly so far it isn’t so bad, but I don’t see this as something I could sustain for the long term, but who knows only been doing it 2 days so far. We will see what it does for me, the primary goal of it though is to break my sugar addiction, that is something I have to do.

Well that is it for now.

Thursday 15 February WOD

OK, racking my brain trying to remember what I did for this workout without the sheet I wrote it on

3 Rounds for Time

400 Meter Row

15 Sit-Ups

15 Squats – 185 lbs.

15 KB Swings – 44 lbs.

Finished in 34:12, burned 348 Calories.

Now this is just a guess I will have to see the notes on my workout sheet and will correct this tomorrow morning after we do that workout which I haven’t made up yet either, maybe do that before bed tonight as well.

Saturday 17 Feb WOD

Today’s workout was nice and simple and designed to be quick

4 Rounds for time:

10 Squats – 155 lbs.

10 Box Jumps

400 Meter Row

Finished in 18:47 and burned 214 calories.

I am missing a workout here from Thursday, I have to find the sheet I wrote it on because I forgot what it was.

Also, decided that come Tuesday I am going to start the Carnivore Diet, and run with it for about 4 – 6 weeks, this should be enough time to break my sugar addiction and then I will be moving to a Paleo Diet after that and focusing on eating natural foods only along with continuing to eat lots of meat.

We went up to King of Prussia Mall late morning today as well and walked around there for about 4 hours as well, so that just added to moving around today.

Today’s WOD

So for today, back to Crossfit, and was today a good way to start back.

3 Rounds for time of:

800 Meter Row

25 Tows to Bar

25 Deadlifts – 120 lbs.

Time to complete 37 Minutes and I burned 430 Calories. Average heart rate was 134, hitting a max of 165.

This was a good workout, so I think that the Doc was right, maybe its better I stick with things that are going to be more general fitness, the goal is to keep feeling as young as possible for as long as possible. Trying to relive my powerlifting days be getting strong again isn’t going to get me there, most likely just get me hurt again.

Yearly Visit…

To my cardiologist was yesterday. These are fun, and all started a while back when I had what was a single instance of AFIB. The day before I was starting a new job I woke up and my heart was racing, turns out it was racing at oh around 199+ beats per minute. Needless to say it was a bit scary. Went to the ER, and while there my heart was shocked back into its normal rhythm, I was given blood pressure meds (it was high, had been for years). Basically this was my bodies way of telling me to do something about the high blood pressure.

I should have known it would happen, it apparently runs in my family and most of those in my family other than my younger brother are taking BP meds.

So since that I have been seeing a cardiologist yearly to keep up with the BP meds and things have been normal since.

Now I have spent a good deal of my life into hardcore powerlifting, knee injuries put that to rest long ago, but I always try to move back in that direction. Which is what I was trying to do again recently with going back to strength training more or less. This is something that I am now revisiting in my mind after seeing the doc yesterday because well my reality at 48 is I don’t need to be super strong anymore, I need to be strong enough, but agile and fit. So I might be jumping back to Crossfit workouts because the reality is for fitness this is what works well for me, so I won’t get super strong, the reality is I don’t need it, I need to get fit, and get lean, and cut some weight, mostly body fat which I find the most important thing to get rid of at this point.

Being I do all my own programming for this stuff, it isn’t like I can’t mix it up and do silly shit for Crossfit workouts that include using curls and other exercises you don’t normally find just to specifically work those body parts if I should want to, I don’t know if that will be the case but hey who knows.

New year, new things to do, just gotta get to work.

Working out the logistics of this Carnivore diet I want to try, being I am going to be traveling heavily for work in the coming months and I figure I am going to need at least 3 good months on this to get me in the right direction before most likely transitioning back to a Paleo diet primarily. It should do what I need most, breaking my addiction to sugary crap.

OK, I am being seriously long winded here so this is it for now.

Thinking trying this…

So I have heard about this Carnivore diet, which is basically just about eating meat, nothing more nothing less. I think this is more of a Keto style thing but more straight up just eating protein and nothing else. Now as far as the whole thing of people saying that an all protein diet is bad for you, I don’t buy into that crap so I won’t pay much attention to it.

My issue is I have a whole shitload of travel coming up for work and don’t know how I am going to work this while being on the road which is going to a vast majority of the next 3 or 4 months. So once I can figure out the logistics of this it might be the thing I am going to try so that I can get myself back on the right track in decreasing my body fat which is my primary goal.

In terms of weight loss, I am not really interested so much in losing actual weight, that is just a number for me and what my primary interest is would be to decrease my body fat level, changing my composition. I am not hung up on the numbers in terms of my weight. The thing with me is I love junk food, and that is where things are difficult, so if something like this could help me get past my sugar issues and addiction to it that will be great. Oh and did I mention I love meat, so I don’t see an issue with this at all. I might be hard initially but I think I can get past that if I can get my body composition where I want it which is down in the 10% – 12% range but I will take lower if it happens.

OK, more on this later.
