Today’s WOD

For Time:

2,000 meter Row

At 1-minute mark, begin:

Death by Thrusters (65 lbs.)

With a running clock start the row. At the 1-minute mark get off the rower, do one thruster, and resume rowing until the 2-minute mark. Do two thrusters, row until the 3-minute mark, do three thrusters, etc. until the 2K row is complete – or until you can no longer continue.

So this workout was a bitch, I made it to 18 minutes on the Thrusters before the previous two days workouts took there toll. But it was a great workout for sure. It might make me have to take it a bit easy for tomorrows workout. Maybe.

This week has been a bit of a bore for sure, but from time to time work gets that way, the reality is I should have been in Austin, TX for two weeks or next week I should have been leaving for Alabama, but that trip got nixed and that also caused the other to get nixed. So not happy about that at all. Oh well, at least I will get to head back to Fort Hood again in the summer, just hopefully it won’t be as warm as it was last summer when I was there.

The other thing I seriously need to do is get serious about killing my sugar habit, I just love chocolate too damned much and that makes it very hard to stop eating it but next week I am going to just do my best to stop eating it and just allow myself a single cheat day per week for junk type food. My other problem is I have to figure out how to keep doing intermittent fasting and get enough damned calories into my body so that I can actually lose weight. That has been a bit of an issue. Never thought it could be so damned hard to get 1900 calories per day.

OK, that is it for now.

Laziness abounds…

Yes I have been quite lazy the last few days in terms of posting. I haven’t even posted my daily workouts which I have done pretty much everyday since the last time I posted a few days ago.

Yesterday’s I would call epic, just did Military Presses but finished with the final set of about 12 total at 130 x 2, which I would consider to be pretty damn good as that is about 60% of my body weight and I was only shooting for my final to be about 50% of my body weight.

I have to make it a point to start posting a lot more often, just to get things out of my head that get in there and drive me nutty. That should technically have me writing all day long every single day though, so maybe that totally won’t work, but at least once or twice a day for sure from now on.

So one of the things on my mind which has me conflicted is something to do with religion, you see back when I was younger I was more or less force fed Catholicism up to the age of about 16 or so when I was then allowed to chose, and I quickly turned away from it in a completely opposite direction. First turning towards Laveyan Satanism, and then Wicca, then Paganism and back to Laveyan Satanism and finally to Luciferianism. Now these last two aren’t much different from one another and they both more or less have the same concept, that you are your own god, and there is no belief in a heaven or hell or a god and or devil. But now as time has gone by I find myself in conflict over my beliefs, and keep coming back to is there actually a God, is there a Devil, is there a Heaven and Hell? I know deep fucking questions! There is a part of me that now looks at things in terms of if I can have God in my life in my terms and not the way it was force fed to me then maybe I could allow myself those beliefs again. Part of me sees it, but then I want to stomp it when it pops into my head. Maybe time to start considering it again rather than stomping it out.

OK, deep subject taken care of. This weekend was fun, went to the range did some shooting, and that is always fun and a great way to do stress relief. Workouts of course are next best thing. Other fun stuff, I got laid this weekend too, always nice when that happens as well. And just to toss this out there I am reading about 5 different books, most of them are all around 50% complete, so I might write some reviews on them when I am done.

OK, all for now. More later I hope.

Today’s WOD – 25 March 2018

Deadlift 5-5-3-3-3-1-1-1-1 reps

155 lbs. for set 1 & 2 – 5 REP Sets

175 lbs. for sets 3, 4, & 5 – 3 REP Sets

185 lbs. for set 6 – Single

205 lbs. for set 7 – Single

215 lbs. for set 8 – Single

235 lbs. for set 9 – Single

Finisher 750 meter row.

I am going to start working on doing these types of lifting days at least once a month with a goal of getting all my lifts up to a respectable level again for me, which will be at least a double bodyweight squat and deadlift, followed by maybe a 315 bench and at least a bodyweight overhead press.

Another goal is to start working the olympic lifts and see what I can get up to with those as well, they aren’t that great now, but they are learning lifts. I used to be pretty good at them, but stopped doing them, now I am interested again.

Tomorrow I am going to do 18.5, we will see how that goes.

The Weekend…

This is the worst part of traveling for work, nothing like having to spend a weekend alone by oneself. There is only so much you can do. So today was the day to have a bit of fun, so I took a drive to Disney Springs, which is a shopping mall by Disney itself. The last time I was here I also went there but I didn’t cover the whole thing at all, but this time I managed to see pretty much everything.

The other thing about this trip that sucks is with no fitness center in the building it makes it more difficult to get in a decent workout. So I have to investigate an alternative at least for the rest of the time I am here since this place doesn’t have its fitness center up and running. I noticed a place up the road from here and I am going to look them up and see if they charge a daily fee or something.

And it totally sucks to have to eat dinner by oneself is never fun so I just went to Chic-Fil-A rather than a real restaurant, cuz than it always feels weird.

The other downside to this trip is during it I found out that my company lost its contract and now I have to get my job but with the new company that won the contract. This shouldn’t be much of an issue as I have worked for said company twice before. The good thing is I go in with seniority with nearly 4 years working for them. The company itself well they did a bit of a backslide a bit ago, hopefully they have improved since the last time I worked with them, but I think that might have had a lot to do with the people and the organization I was working with, it wasn’t that great. The organization I work with now is cool, great people and I want to make sure I get to stay there, not just because of that but also because I am trying to transition to a gov’t position in the same location and that is something that should be happening soon or so I should hope. The gov’t doesn’t move all that fast which annoys me to no end.

I know my life is a bit boring, but hey we can’t all be overtly exciting.

Should be interesting when I get home, my wife is painting our master bath, as we decided it needed some color, so she was doing that today. Will be interesting to see how it turned out. I might not get to see it till I get home which is next Friday.

Well I am going to head off now to being bored, and finishing up with doing my son’s homework for him…LOL (not really but he is picking my brain seriously for the last 2 hours).

Oh, upside, it was about 86 degrees today, the downside, there are lots of new strange pollens in the air here that are aggravating the shit out of my allergies and sinuses leaving me miserable for the most part. LOL

Day 1 & 2 in the bag…

So the travel day and the actual first day of work are done. This was a good day though, because last time I was here for a similar event it was a total disaster. Today on this time around the day was productive and we got a good deal done. So got some good vibes in regards to how I expect the rest of the time here to go.

The downside to being here is the hotel was supposed to have a fitness center, something which it apparently doesn’t seem to have because they are doing a renovation on the place that isn’t quite done. It appears to be mostly done and maybe if they finish before the end of my time here they will get the fitness center open. In the meantime I did do a 3+ mile run/walk today, the upside to being in Florida the weather though a bit cool was wonderful.

Funny thing is my son came down to Florida to take my granddaughter to Disney for the first time, so I get to go out to dinner with them tomorrow. That will be nice for sure, just have to figure out somewhere to go.

Well this is going to be it for now, I have to get my ass to bed to get up tomorrow.

Fun…

So three days till I head out on another adventure, this will be the second time back to Orlando for work, first time was just before summer last year. The downside it was a pain in the ass to plan this trip, and it dawned on me why, duh, its spring break, so I get to go down to FL with all the college kiddies who are on vacation.

Even though it was tough I managed to still get a decent hotel, a suite rather than plain room, I hate just getting a regular room, I prefer some comfort when I travel. I just have to hope for the room to have a decent size fridge so that I can do some food shopping, that is all I am worried about now. Trying to eat on the cheap while I am there.

I do hope to get some actual writing done while I am down there, so we will see if I can make that happen, I don’t see why not. Not like I will have anything else better to do. It will be work from 8 – 5 and then back to the hotel, get in a workout, eat some dinner and relax and write.

I will get to do the same thing again in a few weeks but this time it will be in Alabama. I have been there three times, well actually 4 times before. I like it there, so looking forward to making that trip again. Later on in the summer I will be back in Texas again, after just having been there a week ago, and twice before in the summer.

Well that is all for now, the fun part is packing, and having to pack for completely different weather conditions.

So another couple of days…

Till I am off traveling again for work. This time I will spend 2 weeks in Orlando, FL, but first I have to get through another N’Easter here at home, the one from last week was bad enough. I had my flight canceled coming back from Austin, TX as I arrived at Dulles International. I then had to rent a car and drive for 7 hours (usually a 2.5 hour drive) in order to get home the day I was supposed to.

This was caused by the closure of 2 of 3 bridges across the Susquehanna River, and eventually the closed the third but not till after I got across it.

But I finally got home, and now I get my 7 days at home before heading out again. Hopefully the weather will be decent in FL, that will be the highlight of going there. The other thing I hope to spend some time doing while there is getting some writing done.

After this trip I am expecting to either go back to Austin, TX or to Huntsville, AL, my preference is to go to Huntsville, so hopefully that is the trip I get to make.

Was also nice to get back and do a real workout, trips make for usually nothing but cardio getting done which is fine, but I miss my regular workouts. But at least I am getting workouts done so this is still a good thing.

Last thing, I talked a few days ago about my wife’s food issues, its funny as I told her yesterday about what my eating intentions would be going forward she literally balked at how 1900 calories per day was entirely too much, though my requirements are more like 2800 per day. But I guess she has gone so long not eating properly she doesn’t get it. I came to the realization that if I got her to eat normal for too long she would probably gain 20+ pounds because her metabolism is shot out from eating less than 700 calories a day for so long. Her body is in a perpetual state of thinking its starving so she won’t ever lose any weight, and I can’t tell her that or she will stop eating altogether.

But that is it for now.
