Yearly Visit…

To my cardiologist was yesterday. These are fun, and all started a while back when I had what was a single instance of AFIB. The day before I was starting a new job I woke up and my heart was racing, turns out it was racing at oh around 199+ beats per minute. Needless to say it was a bit scary. Went to the ER, and while there my heart was shocked back into its normal rhythm, I was given blood pressure meds (it was high, had been for years). Basically this was my bodies way of telling me to do something about the high blood pressure.

I should have known it would happen, it apparently runs in my family and most of those in my family other than my younger brother are taking BP meds.

So since that I have been seeing a cardiologist yearly to keep up with the BP meds and things have been normal since.

Now I have spent a good deal of my life into hardcore powerlifting, knee injuries put that to rest long ago, but I always try to move back in that direction. Which is what I was trying to do again recently with going back to strength training more or less. This is something that I am now revisiting in my mind after seeing the doc yesterday because well my reality at 48 is I don’t need to be super strong anymore, I need to be strong enough, but agile and fit. So I might be jumping back to Crossfit workouts because the reality is for fitness this is what works well for me, so I won’t get super strong, the reality is I don’t need it, I need to get fit, and get lean, and cut some weight, mostly body fat which I find the most important thing to get rid of at this point.

Being I do all my own programming for this stuff, it isn’t like I can’t mix it up and do silly shit for Crossfit workouts that include using curls and other exercises you don’t normally find just to specifically work those body parts if I should want to, I don’t know if that will be the case but hey who knows.

New year, new things to do, just gotta get to work.

Working out the logistics of this Carnivore diet I want to try, being I am going to be traveling heavily for work in the coming months and I figure I am going to need at least 3 good months on this to get me in the right direction before most likely transitioning back to a Paleo diet primarily. It should do what I need most, breaking my addiction to sugary crap.

So it is the weekend, and this weekend I have been home by myself, well I have had the company of my little fuzzball, so that is good at least. My wife is doing her thing with the National Guard this weekend up in NJ, and generally I can’t go up there with her anymore since we don’t have a place to stay after my Mom moved down here to DE where we live. So it can get a bit boring sometimes but other times I get lots done around the house we need to get done.

This weekend didn’t do to much, drove down surprised my Mom and went to lunch with her after I went and traded in a couple of my handguns for something new (Glock 19X) that I decided I wanted, had to get a straight trade on that which was good that I did, but sucks that I couldn’t just straight away buy it and keep what I already had. It just sucks to be broke, but working on changing that and hopefully it happens. Never again am I allowing us to get into a position like this ever again, because it just SUCKS!

I listed some more items on eBay, try to get rid of all the extra holsters I have from guns I no longer own, those will add up to a couple of hundred bucks or more, will pay off a credit card, so that is good. On that note, hopefully soon I will have my approvals from the two states I am waiting on to start teaching concealed carry classes, as that money will also go to paying down our debt, there was a snafu with getting that done several months ago but now it should get done and I can start teaching that.

The writing thing is where I have to get my ass in gear, because once I get to that I am sure that is something that I can use to really add extra money into our coffers, as when push comes to shove I am not all that bad at it at all, I just have to actually get to doing it. I think the big thing I am trying to make sure I have a full good command on right now is dialog in writing since that is something you don’t do in technical writing at all, there is no need for dialog, so I am reading a couple of books on it and looking at things that will help me with it so that I don’t dork that shit up while I am writing it and all. So yeah I am bring a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to the whole thing but in the grand scheme of things this is something I want to translate into possible full time work and full time money, so it has got to be good, it has to be readable and it has to be entertaining.

Today I was lazy and didn’t do a workout, more so because I had errands my wife needed run for stuff she does for work, so I figured I would get it done and all so we didn’t have to worry about it at all once she gets back from NJ. It has been a pretty dreary day here today as well so surely didn’t feel like going out anywhere but did, for her. I did get in my four strength training workouts so that is all I was worried about, so long as I nail those every week I am good. This coming week I am going to be trying to add in doing my 100 push-ups each morning and adding air squats, maybe starting somewhere between 25 and 50 of them and eventually working up to 100 of those as well.

I am going to do my best to start posting at least one single post a day, and what ever my daily workout is since people seem to like seeing that as well, which has shocked me and all but hey, going to. At some point I might be deciding if I am doing to renew my Personal Training Certification as well, I let it lapse, but not sure if I want to spend that money at this point on doing that, but we will see, as it just becomes another avenue of adding yearly earnings by providing people exercise routines and what not.

Hump Day

Too bad there won’t be any humping going on…LOL

But seriously, in the name of trying to write more everyday I am doing some right now. Just going to be randomness for right now.

So my job, what I do for a living, I am a Technical Writer/Technical Publications Manager, it is more of the latter though, why do I say this, because the reality is I don’t really write much of anything in my job at this point in time, actually for my job I haven’t written much of anything in the last 8 – 10 years. I do a lot of editing and verifying of things, but don’t write anything at all. This is what makes my job rather boring at times, because it is kind of feast or famine, as I wait for contractors to deliver work to me that I get to review, which doesn’t happen often. It is usually 4 – 6 weeks in between deliveries. The biggest thing that breaks up any monotony of the whole thing is the travel that is required to do the verifications, and that in the very near future will have me on the run for several weeks.

And of course that is why I am trying to get in some real writing of some sort or another by doing this, and trying to get some stories written. It is also why I am trying to get my firearms training biz up and running, but that has present some of its own issues, due to required approvals of curriculum, but that is moving now finally.

Ah Monday, and a gov’t shutdown

So I work as my full time gig as a federal gov’t contractor, so I am right now sitting on the edge of my seat hoping they vote to re-open the gov’t today, though it doesn’t affect me, it does my wife, I get to come to work, while she is now sitting at home because of the shutdown. According to what I have heard thus far it appears they will re-open it today.

I have been bad at this point and haven’t posted a lot recently which is not good of me, just been busy with life. My weekend was pretty busy, my sons B-Day was on Saturday, he turned 23, and in a couple of weeks my granddaughter turns 1, time has flown that is for sure.

I have since started back at regular workouts focusing more just on strength training, and that is working out better as far as I am concerned, so this weekend was just cardio workouts, so on Saturday I rowed for about 25 minutes and on Sunday we just went for a nice long walk with our dog more than 2 miles.

So all in all a nice weekend.

Of course back at work now, really can’t get much done with the gov’t being shutdown all the people I need to do things for me are all furloughed and all, so I am just hanging out and making it look like I am working.

And Monday Again…

Shit I know again, it happens every week right. It is not like we can get rid of it and all, it is going to happen no matter what. And even if we could somehow eliminate Monday then Tuesday feels like Monday and so on.

For me this sucks even more because my job feels like Ground Hog Day the movie, everyday is a replay of the same day over and over again, doesn’t matter at all what is going on, unless I am traveling it is the same and then really even when I travel it is still the same. The travel part does break up the monotony a little bit for sure, but I don’t have to do that till the end of February. But then I have a whole boatload of traveling then, with trips in February, March, April and May, to all different locations.

The weekend for me was OK, it was brutally fucking cold here though, so stayed in for the most part, as I was by myself, the wife is in the National Guard and was in NJ for the weekend doing her thing, I used to go with her, but haven’t since we don’t have anyplace to stay without spending money we don’t have at this point.

This week is a bit better than normal at work though, I have a small amount of work to actually do so that is a good thing, though I will be done with most of it by Wednesday at the latest.

Just wanted to put something out there, when I do a post here on this blog it will be RAW, I am not going to go back and edit shit, or re-write shit, well unless it totally isn’t making sense, I am just going to write, as that is part of the goal here, to just put what is on my mind or shit I think is interesting out there for others to see and hopefully to get those same people to interact with me in regards to it.

Now being this is going to be RAW, well I can say it could be really RAW, so there is a good possibility as I allow the real me to get to the surface I might offend some of you folks reading this blog, sorry but you are getting the real me, and well I am not going to apologize for that. In the end I want this to be entertaining even if it is offensive, this is the real world after all, somewhere out there is something that will offend anyone. Though I have yet to be offended by anyone as of yet.

I don’t, thoughts that I needed to share and all as I try and get this shit ramped up and try to get more readers and for me to do more writing, and honestly I don’t want to be worrying about what I am saying, if you don’t like it, well that isn’t my issue its yours.

The Bomb Cyclone

LOL, I find that funny sounding, it is just to me at least another Nor’ Easter. A normal winter time occurrence to me for decades. The drive into work this morning was not really to fun, took about 15 – 20 minutes longer than normal. So not overtly to bad. I expect the ride home to be much worse due to the conditions worsening as the day goes by.

Now of course the reality is they should have shut this f*cking place down for the day due to the weather conditions but hey no one really cares about there employees enough to let them stay home safe. And then I am here, sitting at my desk what the f*ck is the air conditioning doing running still, its f*ckin’ January for crying out loud. So later I get to go outside and freeze after freezing in here all day long.

Such fun but hey this is my life, boring as all get out for sure.
